Bible Study Hermeneutics

Why Knowing How To Study The Bible Is So Important

One cannot possibly overstate the case for knowing how to study and interpret the Bible today. It’s always been important certainly, but today we are so deeply entrenched in deception all around us in every country that we cannot hope to survive without first discerning the lies, and second knowing what the truths really are for each situation we find ourselves in. Too few believers have learned the fundamentals of hermeneutics and exegesis.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

This is a powerful statement. God’s Word in the Bible has the power, if we will learn it and let it in to our hearts and minds, to distinguish and to bring together that which is in our spirit connected with God, and that which is in our soul, that part of us which defines our earthly existence and thoughts. No psychologists could ever reach into the depths of your soul and spirit and hope to understand you fully and guide you with wisdom. But God’s Holy Word in the Bible can and does. If we will read it and study it diligently.

We are living in a time when people have gotten far away from the careful reading of the Bible and meditation upon God’s thoughts as expressed in the Bible. As a young boy, I found great peace in taking my little KJV Bible to the cliffs of Whitby and meditating on a verse while the waves crashed upon the beach far below the cliffs. How inspired and energized I recall feeling as I walked back to the family farm to milk the cows early in the morning and to finish my other chores while still reflecting upon the truths I had read that morning.

It was much later in life when I learned about different Bible translations, the methods used to interpret the Hebrew and Greek, and the difference between formal and dynamic equivalence in translating. And learning the long established principles of interpretation helped me to build a solid foundation upon which to build my understanding of doctrine and parables and prophesy and wisdom literature. The more I learned, the more I could see how to discern misinterpretations from accurate interpretations.

Many are carried away today by every wind of doctrine and all kinds of silly ideas and theories. That is extremely dangerous, especially in a time of massive deception and tyranny from our own governments.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV)

We are living in such times now. I encourage you to seek out the truth about God’s creation story in Genesis. The more you study it, the more you’ll see rather shocking differences between our government agencies’ own versions of an anti-God universe and the biblical version.

Some of the books we publish on this site have chapters that teach the fundamentals about how to study the Bible, how to learn to use Bible study tools, and how to learn the principles of interpretation found in traditional hermeneutics. Beware of “modern hermeneutics,” which are part of the mass deception. As we approach the last days, many will be fooled, and that will happen because they don’t know God’s Word.

Who do you believe? What do you believe? I choose to believe God and the Bible.
