eBook Royalty Comparison: Amazon vs BooksOnline

Calculate royalties from your eBooks and compare Amazon royalties through KDP with BooksOnline. Amazon via KDP pays royalties on eBooks with a strange schedule that looks like this: Any eBook priced between $2.99 and $9.99 earns its author a 70% royalty, but if your eBook is priced outside that price range, above or below, the royalty is only 35%. This results in the bizarre scenario in which you make the same royalty whether your eBook is priced at $9.99 or $19.54, but you make less if it is priced between $9.99 and $19.54. If your book is within that range of $2.99 to $9.99, select the 70% option from the drop down menu, but if it is priced outside that range (i.e. above $9.99), then choose the 35% option.

BooksOnline has no such sliding royalty schedule that works against authors. BooksOnline pays 60% to eBook authors (30% base royalty plus 30% from all sales through their personal affiliate link) plus another 30% for all their eBooks sold by affiliates.

Looking for a Great Book to Read? Here it is . . .

What's it like growing up off the grid in remote Alaska? I did, so I wrote a book about it. I grew up in a 900 sq.ft. cabin with no electricity, only a homemade barrel stove for heat, no running water, and an outhouse. There were 2 tiny bedrooms, one for mom and dad, and the other for me and my 2 sisters and brother. We had to hunt and fish to feed the family, and cut 10 cords of wood to get through the long winters. There were tragedies and miracles, and some hilarious true stories.
